Description
Yoga is considered both an art and a science – the first utilizing mostly right-hemisphere brain function, the latter mostly in the left-hemisphere. With all styles of yoga, there is much to learn, and for those with limited experience, what is taught is often complex, extensive, and at times paradoxical or confusing. How do we make sense of what the practice of yoga is all about, especially with the immensity of the subject, and then how do we incorporate what we learn at whatever level we’re at onto our mat and into our lives?
In this workshop, we will take a closer look at the three Practice Principles of LEVITYoGA that we introduced in Workshop 1 and show you ways to bring them together simultaneously during practice.
During this 2-hour online program, Peter will introduce the Subtle Body Guide Sheets found in his book, and show you how they can be used to see and experience holistically the subtle body flows and anatomical landmarks we all share.
Presenting this information graphically helps avoid the shortcomings of a left-brain, linear approach to understanding that comes when reading or listening to instruction, while allowing access to the right-brain intelligence that comes with a “whole picture” perspective, helping you think intuitively, creatively, personally, and universally. With familiarity, seeing physical yoga presented this way will instantly give you a sense of a pose “below the skin,” with opportunities to discover for yourself the hidden aspects and nuances your experiences bring to learning.
With use and familiarity, the graphical symbols and abbreviations on the Guide Sheets will become like shorthand notes for states of being and movement in each pose, giving you a deeper experience of how inner body experiences are reflected in the form of the outer body.
The workshop will start with a live Zoom call session for all of us to meet, discuss the content, and answer any questions you might have beforehand.
This will be followed by a Zoom “Screen-share” presentation of the elements found on the Guide Sheets, and how to use the subtle body symbols and anatomical abbreviations that represent where we place our attention and effort in a pose.
After examining a pose and its subtle body elements graphically, Peter will guide you “live” through each pose, to help you put into practice what was presented on the Guide Sheet.
