BACKBENDS: Mastering the Play of Spinal Curves
In general, bending backward is difficult and sometimes frightening in our forward-facing, right-side-up world. Yet to maintain a healthy spine, backbends are a primary, sustaining force. In backbends, we can’t rely on our eyes for our sense of identity or direction, and our frame of reference is challenged.
In this workshop, you’ll discover how to cultivate another “sense” for seeing (and positioning) ourselves, and understand where the power is sourced for “effortless” backbends, starting with the simple and moving towards the complex.
